The First Walkaround
Look at stance, panel alignment, door sag, broken glass, missing trim, and signs of long-term outdoor storage. A car that looks complete from twenty feet may be missing expensive details up close.
Rust Areas to Check
- Floors
- Rockers
- Frame rails
- Trunk pan
- Cowl area
- Lower quarters
- Cab mounts on trucks
Drivetrain Check
Confirm whether the engine turns, whether the transmission is present, whether major accessories are missing, and whether the engine/transmission combination adds value.
Interior and Trim
Bad upholstery is usually easier to solve than missing rare trim, gauges, seats, convertible components, or one-year-only parts.
Documentation
Look for title, VIN tag, data plate, old registrations, manuals, records, and original paperwork.
